Growing up in society. Research-based learning on social themes

Author: Shen Xiaomin

Publish Date: 2006-01-01
Features: This book compiles some of the author's research findings on comprehensive social courses in China and abroad over the past few years, as well as teaching practice cases created by grassroots teachers with whom the author has collaborated. Social courses advocate a student-centered learning approach that constructs cognition through problem-solving, seeking dialogue and cooperation, pursuing factual evidence, and continuously improving understanding in the face of conflict, uncertainty, and revision. The teaching philosophy we advocate and the practices we carry out align with the current surge in research-based learning and the new integrated humanities and social studies curriculum in terms of guiding principles. We hope that our research and practical explorations can provide valuable references for the in-depth development of research-based learning and the implementation of the new curriculum. Based on theoretical research and discussions, the book also offers a rich and vivid collection of practical cases. Although these cases are highly creative, they are not without imperfections. We hope that more teachers can go beyond them and create even more outstanding practical cases.
