Features: The primary readers of this book are students taking the required course "Technology and Operations Management" in MBA and EMBA programs. However, the cases in the book cover a wide range of topics, including operations management and IT management (including project management), as well as organizational design, organizational strategy, change management, process reengineering, innovation management, and leadership. Several of these cases can also be used in information management and traditional MIS (Management Information Systems) courses. The chapters in this book can be broadly categorized into three types: non-case lectures, operations management cases, and IT management cases. First, the three non-case lectures include Process Fundamentals, Drawing and Using Process Control Charts, and a Project Management Handbook, which briefly introduce the basic concepts and methodologies related to production process management and project management, concisely summarizing the fundamental knowledge, concepts, and terminology. The second category consists of 12 operations management cases. The third category includes 5 cases related to IT management. The 17 cases in this book, along with the three lectures that focus on concepts and specific methods, can largely support an entire semester of MBA or EMBA coursework, vividly reflecting some of the essence of Western management ideas and practices through practical examples.
