Historically, Chiyou has been vilified, but according to records, literature, and folk tales, he was actually a heroic figure of unparalleled stature—Chiyou, the God-King,. In ancient times, the world was divided into ninety-nine and eighty-one primitive tribes, with the Shennong tribe led by Emperor Yan being the most powerful. The other tribes submitted to him and paid him tribute. Later, as Emperor Yan aged, the Shennong tribe gradually declined, while the other tribes grew stronger and grew less respectful of him. For their own interests, they fought among themselves more and more, their conflicts deepening until chaos erupted, wars broke out, and the people lived in suffering.
Seeing this, Nuwa sent Xuanyuan to be reborn into the Youxiong tribe to unify the world.
