Author: Chen Zhenlian
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-09-01
Features: Lecture records, study visit records, Q&A records, and debate records. These are the four types we have proposed for this book. By combining these four types of content, one can roughly see a Chen Zhenlian professor who is mentally active, forward-thinking, versatile in methods, and deeply reflective. Such an image that constantly sparkles with brilliance, combined with his works as the results (fruits), and further integrated with the comprehensive studies "Chen Zhenlian Studies" and "Chronology of Chen Zhenlian," allows us to obtain a more rounded, substantial, and comprehensive image of Professor Chen Zhenlian. From this perspective, how could the compilation of this book be lacking!
In the vast process of calligraphy history over the past 20 years, Professor Chen Zhenlian has not only played a significant role through his calligraphy, painting, seal carving creations, theoretical writings, teaching practices, and more, but has also further constructed his vast academic system through his travels, friendly conversations with teachers and peers, as well as numerous academic reports and lecture activities. Therefore, while we focus on his nearly 40 academic works and hundreds of research papers, perhaps we can also take a different angle to look at his presence in lectures, study visits, dialogues, and debates. It is even fair to say that many of his new academic concepts, such as "Academic School Calligraphy Creation Model" and "Disciplinary Research in Calligraphy," actually originated from an accidental lecture or debate and gradually took shape and consolidated into their current form through long-term reflection and exploration.
The upper part of this book includes Professor Chen Zhenlian's speech records, lecture records, study visit records, dialogue records, Q&A records, academic summaries, and debate records, supplemented by comprehensive reports on the "1997 Korea-China-Japan Young Writers International Exchange Exhibition," Professor Chen Zhenlian and others attending the "International Academic Conference on Chinese Calligraphy" in Hong Kong, a historical review and academic reflection on the "National Middle-aged and Young Calligraphers and Seal Carvers Exhibition," a study report and proposal on the conceptual positioning and curriculum implementation of art education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and recent achievements of Chen Zhenlian in Japan. The lower part of the book includes topics such as disciplinary research in calligraphy, new ideas for teaching reform in contemporary Chinese painting, research on postgraduate teaching in calligraphy, issues of distinctive features and standardization in art programs at comprehensive universities, and topics related to the Xiling Seal Society.
By reading this book, you can obtain a more rounded, substantial, and comprehensive image of Professor Chen Zhenlian.
