Indications: Used for dysmenorrhea, functional amenorrhea, functional uterine bleeding, threatened abortion or habitual abortion, endometriosis, etc. High doses can be used as a long-acting contraceptive injection, with a single intramuscular dose of 150 mg, providing contraception for 3 months.
Usage and Dosage:
1. Threatened abortion: Oral, 4–8 mg per dose, 2–3 times daily. For habitual abortion, start with 10 mg daily for the first 3 months, then increase to 20 mg daily for the next 4–4.5 months, followed by a gradual reduction and discontinuation of the medication.
2. Dysmenorrhea: Begin on day 6 of the menstrual cycle, take 2–4 mg orally once daily, and continue for 20 days; or start on the first day of the menstrual period, take 3 times daily, and continue for 3 days.
3. Functional amenorrhea: Take 4–8 mg daily and use for 5–10 days.
Adverse Reactions and Precautions:
1. Some women may experience irregular bleeding. If bleeding occurs, additional ethinyl estradiol (0.05–0.1 mg) can be taken for 3 days to stop the bleeding.
2. Occasional adverse reactions include nausea, vomiting, and headache.
3. May cause breast tenderness and abdominal distension.
4. Has certain androgenic effects, and prolonged use during pregnancy may lead to masculinization of the female fetus.
