Jinong (1687-1763) was a renowned Qing dynasty painter, calligrapher, and poet. His courtesy name was Shoumen, also known as Siniang and Jijin. He was also known by the sobriquets Xin, Jiliushanmin, Qujiang Wai Shi, and Xieye Jushi, among others. He was from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. A lifetime bachelor, he lived in Yangzhou for a long time and was the first painter of the "Eight of Yangzhou." He began painting after the age of fifty, excelling in small floral works, particularly plum blossoms. In calligraphy, he specialized in epigraphic studies, using square and flat strokes, often incorporating the styles of clerical and regular scripts. His works were known as "Lushu," characterized by their rustic and square forms, and he created a unique style. This album selects two styles: "Lushu" and clerical script. The "Lushu" is on silk, with a height of 59 cm and a width of 36 cm, while the clerical script is on paper, with a height of 164 cm and a width of 58 cm.
