Features: Hans Christian Andersen was a famous Danish fairy tale writer in the 19th century and the founder of world literary fairy tales. Born in 1805 into a poor shoemaker family, he attended a charitable school in his early years and worked as an apprentice. Influenced by his father and folk oral literature, he had a deep love for literature from a young age. Andersen's literary career began in 1822. In his early years, he mainly wrote poetry and plays. After entering university, his writing became increasingly mature. He published travelogues and operettas, collections of poems and poetic dramas. In 1833, he published the novel "The Improvisatore," which earned him international acclaim and is considered a masterpiece of his adult literature. Andersen remained unmarried throughout his life and passed away on August 4, 1875, in the home of his friend, the merchant Melchior. This fairy tale master persistently pursued his creative work throughout his life, dedicating his talent and life to "the future generation." Until three years before his death, he wrote a total of 168 fairy tales and stories. His works have been translated into over 80 languages and are beloved by children around the world. The fairy tales selected in this book are representative of different creative periods of Andersen. They include "The Ugly Duckling," "The Little Mermaid," "The Emperor's New Clothes," "The Girl Who Sold Her Dreams," "The Tinderbox," "Little Ida's Flowers," "The Little Match Girl," and "Thumbelina," among others. We sincerely hope that these vivid and magical fairy tales will become good companions on the journey of growth for every young reader.
