Features: The Adventures of Pinocchio was published in 1833 and is one of the most widely read and influential fairy tales in the world. Over the past 100 years, it has been translated into over 80 languages and has become one of the beloved literary works for children worldwide. Its story has been adapted into stage and screen productions many times, making Pinocchio a household name and sparking a "Pinocchio fever" globally. On one day in 1880, an Italian sent a manuscript to his friend who edited a children's magazine in Rome. The manuscript was accompanied by a note saying, "This foolish thing can be used if you like, please handle it as you see fit." Unsurprisingly, the manuscript became a sensation after being serialized in the magazine. This Italian was Carlo Collodi (1826–1890, Carlo Collodi), and the manuscript was The Adventures of Pinocchio, Italy's greatest fairy tale in history.
Collodi was born into a family of cooks in the countryside of Florence, Italy, originally named Carlo Lorenzini. "Collodi" was his pen name, derived from the name of the town where his mother was born and raised. The Adventures of Pinocchio and The Adventures of Pinocchio, its protagonist is the puppet Pinocchio. Pinocchio was created by a kind old carpenter and, after experiencing a series of adventures—such as being imprisoned by the puppet theater owner, being tempted by a fox and a cat, and embarking on a journey to the Land of Toys—finally rescued his father, the old carpenter, from a giant fish and became a real boy.
This book describes Pinocchio's transformation from a willful, mischievous, lazy, lying, indifferent, uninterested-in-study, and play-focused puppet into a polite, studious, hardworking, respectful, and caring child, filled with a sense of childhood charm and imagination. The author delves deep into a child's inner world, observing the world through a child's eyes and thinking about problems with a child's mind. The characters are vividly portrayed, and the plot is narrated in a captivating and dramatic manner. Whether adults or children, readers of this book feel a strong sense of familiarity, as if Pinocchio is someone around them or even themselves, and they are amused throughout from beginning to end.
Like Aesop's Fables, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Gulliver's Travels, and other classics, The Adventures of Pinocchio has long become a milestone in the history of world children's literature. This edition of The Adventures of Pinocchio features translations by renowned experts, includes Pinyin annotations, and is accompanied by exquisite and moving illustrations, allowing children to approach the masterpiece and the classics in a familiar way during their childhood, experiencing the spirit and essence of the classics.
