Features: Scorpions, also known as full scorpions or full insects, are traditional precious Chinese medicines in China. They are important raw materials for more than 30 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine preparations, and there are over 100 herbal formulas made with scorpions. Clinical practice has proven that they have a good therapeutic effect on many diseases, especially for certain difficult and chronic conditions. Moreover, scorpions have become a delicacy on many banquet tables. With the improvement of people's living standards, scorpions have shifted from medicinal use to being a dietary supplement on ordinary households' tables, leading to consumption exceeding medicinal use and rapid growth. As a result, the market demand for scorpions has been increasing year by year, with prices rising. For many years, the market supply of scorpions has relied heavily on wild capture. However, due to the extensive use of pesticides and fertilizers, the wild scorpion habitat has been damaged. Combined with excessive human hunting, this has created a vicious cycle, leading to a sharp decline in scorpion populations and market supply not meeting demand. With the advancement of scientific research, the functions of scorpion venom have been widely recognized, such as in pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and other applications, making scorpion venom even more valuable than gold. This has also increased the value of scorpions. Therefore, scorpion farming has broad development prospects, and a wave of scorpion farming has emerged across the country. However, many scorpion farmers currently face certain challenges, primarily because they lack a comprehensive, systematic, objective, and in-depth understanding of scorpions, leading to inadequate farming techniques and difficulties. At the same time, the technology for developing and utilizing scorpions lags behind, severely affecting the economic benefits of scorpion farming. Based on these issues, and drawing on years of teaching, research, and production experience, as well as references from numerous literature sources, we have compiled the book "Scorpion Farming and Scorpion Product Processing" following the principle of "With this book in hand, walk confidently on the path of scorpion farming." This book covers comprehensive content, systematic knowledge, advanced techniques, and strong practicality, making it suitable for breeding and management personnel of scorpion farms, researchers and developers of scorpions, and medicinal material management personnel. It can also serve as a reference for students and teachers in universities and vocational schools, as well as a training textbook for scorpion farming.
