Features: Seaweed is a treasure of the sea, a source of food, and also a source for certain industries (such as pharmaceuticals). The 21st century is the century of the ocean, and the development and utilization of seaweed resources are a major topic of today. To better enable aquatic workers to implement standardized production in accordance with the product standards promulgated by the WTO, ensure the improvement of seaweed quality, guarantee food safety, and protect public health, we organized the writing of the book Standardized Production Technology of Seaweed. The book is divided into two parts: the Upper Part and the Lower Part. The Upper Part is the Biotechnology Section, which mainly introduces the basic equipment and operations for seaweed cell culture, tissue culture methods of seaweed cells, seaweed cell culture technology, protoplast culture technology of seaweed, somatic hybridization of seaweed, research on seaweed cell mutants, immobilization technology and ultra-low temperature preservation technology of seaweed cells, and research on seaweed genetic engineering. The Lower Part is the Production Technology Section, which mainly includes the production technologies of kelp, wakame, nori, agar, Gracilaria, Eucheuma, and Asparagopsis, introducing the biological characteristics, growth and development, relationship with the environment, seedling technology, aquaculture technology, harvesting, and processing of these seaweeds. This book is edited by Associate Professor Zhao Yanzhen of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University, with Senior Engineer Yan Junli of the Hebei Aquatic Products Research Institute and Lecturer Li Fengchen of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University, as deputy editors. The Upper Part is written by Lecturer Zhang Xiwen of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapter 1), Lecturer Qi Fengsheng of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapter 2), Lecturer Wang Limin of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapter 5), Senior Engineer Yan Junli of the Hebei Aquatic Products Research Institute (Chapters 6, 7, and 8), and Associate Professor Zhao Yanzhen of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapters 3, 4, and Chapters 11 and 16 of the Lower Part). The Lower Part is written by Cui Xiaowu of the Hebei Aquatic Products Bureau (Chapter 9), Lecturer Li Fengchen of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapters 10 and 13), Lecturer Li Yuhong of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapter 12), Lecturer Han Qingdong of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapter 14), and Associate Professor Chen Xiumin of the Aquaculture College, Hebei Agricultural University (Chapter 15). This book has a dual nature: it not only reflects the nature of a textbook but can also be used as a teaching material for students in aquatic colleges; it is also a guidebook for standardized production technology of seaweed. The content of the book is detailed, and the language is easy to understand, combining scientific rigor, applicability, and practicality. It can serve as the preferred teaching material for new aquaculture technology training programs in various regions and can also be referenced by science and technology personnel and administrative cadres in aquatic administrative departments at all levels. We believe it will become a good teacher and friend for aquatic workers and agricultural extension personnel.
