Features: This book is suitable for students of engineering colleges and is also suitable for a wide range of technical personnel learning CAD technology and previewing the three-dimensional designs they create. In the 21st century, CAD technology will be widely adopted as a fundamental education in engineering colleges across the country, cultivating outstanding talents for scientific research and modern design. This book and its accompanying EGCAI software system are specifically developed for CAI (Computer-Assisted Instruction) in drafting courses at engineering colleges. The book is divided into two parts: Part 1: Basic Methods of Computer-Generated Three-Dimensional Solids, consisting of 10 chapters. It focuses on introducing three-dimensional graphics processing technology, including: geometric descriptions of three-dimensional solids, orthographic projections, perspective drawings, and geometric transformations; hidden line removal techniques; rendering techniques for realistic graphics; sweeping modeling methods; creation, display, and modification of solids; system installation and operation; user interface, menu operations, and function key usage, etc.
Part 2: Computer-Aided Engineering Drafting, consisting of 5 chapters. It emphasizes the integration of industrial design and computer graphics, covering methods for conceptualizing and generating three-dimensional solids, including: using the 3D functions of the tool software AutoCAD to create basic geometric bodies, composite geometric bodies, and the line-frame modeling of sections and intersections of solids; applying Boolean operations (intersection, union, difference) to generate hidden-line and shaded images on the screen. The book’s features include concise explanations, detailed examples, and strong operational feasibility. It contains nearly 100 modeling examples along with their generation methods and drawing commands, enabling readers to quickly enter the field of three-dimensional modeling design and preview their own conceptualized solids. These modeling design examples and their real-time operation programs are all included on a single CD-ROM. By reading this book and using these example programs, readers will not only be able to generate three-dimensional solids using the EGCAI system but also gain a preliminary understanding of three-dimensional modeling design techniques, laying a foundation for mastering other levels of three-dimensional graphics systems and developing three-dimensional CAD application software.
