With China's relaxation of import and export rights and the acceleration of its entry into the WTO, foreign trade has tremendous development prospects. For some competitive domestic enterprises, the professionalism of their top leaders and business personnel in negotiations can significantly affect their company's profits. Understanding the conventions and practices of foreign trade negotiations, formulating reasonable plans, selecting the right personnel, and grasping the cultural differences in negotiations are crucial for negotiators.
Recognizing this market demand, we have compiled this book, "Business English Negotiation."
Part I systematically introduces key issues to focus on in international business negotiations, such as goal-setting, staffing, and strategy formulation. Parts II to IV primarily discuss the specific content of three common types of foreign-related negotiations: commodity trade negotiations, investment negotiations, and technology trade negotiations, representing tangible trade negotiations, financing negotiations, and intangible trade negotiations, respectively. Part V explores the impact of cultural differences on international business negotiations. The content is extensive, easy to understand, and serves as an ideal self-study resource.
"Business English Negotiation" is designed for a broad audience with some English language foundation and those engaged in or preparing for international business activities. To facilitate self-study, this book provides readers with a practical and effective learning approach. Unlike traditional English-Chinese books that use page-by-page or chapter-by-chapter correspondence, this book adopts a unique paragraph-by-paragraph English-Chinese parallel format, allowing readers to easily compare the two languages. This helps improve business knowledge while familiarizing readers with language skills, enabling them to quickly adapt to the role of a business negotiator and meet job requirements.
The authors of this book are teachers at the University of International Business and Economics with years of experience in teaching business English and business personnel from China National Instruments Import and Export Corporation who have worked in the field for many years. We have a clear understanding and extensive experience in both teaching and applying business English. Based on extensive references to domestic and international specialized works, we have compiled this book by combining our years of teaching and work experience.
