Features: The first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets by October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works in just a few months is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order the Collection. Graduate and undergraduate students regard it as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practical evidence shows that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the domestic linguistics and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP now introduces the second batch of 58 titles to the Collection. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theory, thereby meeting broader reader needs;
2. Including influential works by renowned linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. Adding classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. Maintaining expert introductions, with an even stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. Prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jia Xianhan.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics to provide readers with a steady stream of high-quality resources.
