Cities are the cradles of modern civilization. Since the Greek city-state system pioneered the prototype of modern cities, the development of cities in China and abroad has largely followed a similar course. Therefore, initiating international comparative research in major world cities holds practical significance. This is because the continuous expansion of cities has become almost a global trend, and like urbanization, large cities governments face management problems with many similarities across countries—such as urban environmental issues, housing issues, traffic issues, public safety issues, etc. How to effectively manage large cities has long become a challenging yet comprehensive topic for mayors worldwide.
