As the cream of the crop, Peking University students should have grand ambitions and broad visions. During their time at university, they should lay a solid foundation and prepare themselves to contribute their share to the revival of China's economy and culture in the next century. In this spirit, on the occasion of the centennial celebration of Peking University, the Beijing Center for Chinese Economic Research initiated and organized the "Peking University Centennial Celebration Economics Lecture Series." It invited distinguished leaders from the business community, academia, and government economic management departments from around the world to deliver lectures at Peking University, sharing their insights, research findings, and professional experiences with the university community. Most of the lectures in this series were conducted in English. Regardless of whether the original lectures were in English or Chinese, the chapters presented in this book are compiled based on the recorded audio and written manuscripts of each speaker. The order of the chapters follows the actual dates of the speakers' presentations.
