The specific requirements for this course are: "to enable students to master the fundamental knowledge and basic skills of choral conducting; to develop certain organizational and conducting abilities for choirs; to be able to correctly analyze and process choral works, and to conduct choral training tailored to the characteristics of children's voices." In light of this, during the writing process of this textbook, we attempted to make it more targeted, more closely aligned with the actual teaching needs of this major, and to create a teacher-training-oriented choral conducting textbook. This textbook spans nearly one hundred class hours, equivalent to three semesters with two class hours per week. It covers the basic theories of choral conducting and the fundamentals of conducting techniques. Each chapter includes thought-provoking exercises, conducting practice, and choral songs for practice. Through lectures, students' reflection, exercises, and practice, the ultimate goal is to equip students with comprehensive abilities in teaching choral classes, rehearsing choral songs, and conducting performances. This textbook is a relatively comprehensive and practical resource for choral conducting, with broad applicability. It can serve as a textbook for music majors in higher normal colleges, correspondence courses, evening classes, teacher training programs, as well as for music programs in secondary normal schools. It can also be used as a reference book or textbook for self-study in choral conducting. The content of each chapter follows the principle of clarity and thoroughness, providing room for instructors to teach while also catering to the readability for students studying independently or reviewing.
