Features: The yellow mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) is a rare edible fungus that is both medicinal and highly valuable in the market. It is rich in nutrients and contains high levels of amino acids, which can invigorate the mind and help prevent and treat tumors as well as infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Developing yellow mushroom production does not compete with industry for energy or raw materials, nor does it compete with agriculture for land. It is environmentally friendly, has a short production cycle, requires low investment, yields quick results, and offers high economic benefits. Under the current national effort to adjust rural industrial structures, returning farmland to forests and grasslands and optimizing agricultural structures have become inevitable choices for sustainable agricultural development. Engaging in yellow mushroom cultivation can fully utilize agricultural and forestry by-products, which is of great significance for increasing farmers' income, adjusting dietary structures in urban and rural areas, enhancing agricultural export earnings, and improving the ecological environment. The prospects for yellow mushroom cultivation are very broad. Currently, cultivation of yellow mushrooms in China is still in its primary development stage, and there are few specialized books on the topic. Many technical aspects are difficult for the general public to master. Therefore, we have organized scientists and skilled producers who are experienced in yellow mushroom production to compile this specialized book, Efficient Cultivation Techniques for Yellow Mushrooms.
This book is divided into nine parts. The first and second parts introduce the distribution, edible, and medicinal value of yellow mushrooms, as well as their biological characteristics. The third, fourth, and fifth parts cover the equipment and facilities for yellow mushroom production, spawn production technology, and preparatory work for cultivation. The sixth part discusses the management of spawn formation and mushroom harvesting. The seventh and eighth parts cover the preservation and processing of yellow mushrooms, as well as pest and disease control. The ninth part introduces the utilization of spent cultivation materials.
This book is scientifically practical, easy to understand, and highly operational. It is suitable for reading by (a broad range of mushroom farmers), technicians, rural grassroots cadres, as well as serving as a reference for workers in the edible mushroom industry and faculty and students in agricultural institutions.
