Features: China is a country with a long history of poetry and a deep-rooted tradition of wine. In such a nation, poetry and wine are often intertwined, giving rise to a vast number of banquet poems that depict drinking gatherings and express emotions through wine. Some banquets are political events, and the poems reflecting these activities often carry political content aimed at improving the relationship between rulers and subjects or diplomatic relations. Others are gatherings among friends, and the poems written for such occasions carry the theme of friendship. Some are held to enhance the mood or alleviate sorrow, and the poems from these gatherings express personal sentiments. The forms of banquets are diverse, and the content of banquet poems is rich. However, regardless of form or content, each era reflects its own unique characteristics. Today, banquets remain a common activity in people's lives. Some, inspired by wine, even compose banquet poems. To enhance readers' appreciation of wine and poetry, and to provide them with material for enjoyment and reference, we have selected over one hundred and twenty outstanding banquet poems from the pre-Qin period to the Qing Dynasty, along with brief annotations. The annotations not only explain the meaning of the texts but also focus on introducing knowledge related to drinking.
