Features: The issue of economic security emerged alongside the birth of sovereign states. After the Cold War, the role of economic factors in international relations has risen, with the comprehensive national strength competition centered on economy and technology becoming the focal point of competition between countries, especially major powers. The acceleration of economic globalization has accelerated global trade, investment, and financial liberalization, deepening the interdependence of national economies and making interest relations increasingly complex. Economic competition has intensified, trade friction has increased, and economic security risks have grown, with issues such as financial security, energy security, technological security, food security, and talent security becoming prominent. Against this backdrop, many countries have rethought and weighed the relationship between economic security, military security, and political security, elevating the status of economic security in national overall strategies and safeguarding it both domestically and internationally. The China Institute of Modern International Relations has invited experts and scholars from within and outside the institute to provide in-depth yet accessible discussions on the issues related to national economic security. It offers a profound analysis of the economic security and safeguard measures of the United States, Japan, the European Union, Russia, East Asia, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe, and proposes countermeasures and strategies for China to address the economic security risks it faces.
