In 1830, the Brothers Grimm began teaching at the University of Hanover. Seven years later, due to political reasons, they had to return to Kassel. In 1841, the Brothers Grimm were elected as members of the Prussian Academy of Sciences. During this period, they worked on compiling the Great Dictionary of the German Language. Although only the first four volumes were published before their deaths, their contribution to German culture was immense. The two fairy tales in this book are selected from Children's and Household Tales, which was a major work by the Brothers Grimm published in the early 19th century. It has been translated into many languages and has spread widely. The Musicians of Bremen is a fable centered around animals. The old and frail animals, in order to escape the fate of being killed, had to flee from their owners. They resolved to become musicians in Bremen. On their way to the Bremen forest, they decided to rest for the night and discovered a bandit's den. The animals worked together to drive out the bandits and lived happily there. Sleeping Beauty tells a beautiful legend. Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen who longed for a child. One day, a frog predicted that their wish would come true. Sure enough, the next year they had a beautiful princess. Overjoyed, the king held a grand celebration and invited 12 fairies. However, an old and ugly fairy, who was not invited, made a curse, vowing that the princess would die on her 15th birthday from a spindle piercing her finger. Although the princess was saved from death with the help of another fairy, she would have to sleep for 100 years before waking up. After 100 years passed, the princess finally woke up with the help of a brave prince.
