Economy. Culture and Development -- Reading Series

Author: Li Yining

Publish Date: 2005-03-01
Features: The articles collected in this volume are not all related to economics. Some discuss economic history and social development, others touch on the social and cultural field, and a few are about teaching experiences and reflections at Peking University. Of course, there are also a significant number of economics-related articles, as this is my area of expertise. The author was never part of the group of "high-achieving but underperforming" students. Should we continue to train such economics professionals? Should our economics journals continue to publish articles that merely repeat what others have said without offering any original perspectives? Therefore, it can be predicted that a significant change will reflect in the style of economic works in socialist economics research in the future. Those economics papers composed of either "quoted others' sayings" or "unquoted others' sayings" will no longer have readers, as readers will realize on their own that reading such articles is a waste of time.
