Features: Xue Yibing, Ph.D. in philosophy, researcher at the Chinese Academy of Arts, and visiting professor at National Tainan University of Arts. From a young age, he studied composition under his father and published a series of musical works in newspapers and radio stations. In 1978, he entered the Music Department of Northwest Normal University, specializing in composition and earning a Bachelor's degree in literature. In 1982, he joined the Graduate School of Musicology at the Chinese Academy of Arts, focusing on ethnomusicology and earning a Master's degree in literature. Since 1985, he has been employed at the Institute of Musicology of the Chinese Academy of Arts. During this period, he served as the Deputy Director of the Graduate School of Musicology from 1985 to 1988; in 1992, he became the Deputy Director of the Institute of Musicology, responsible for all research, archives, and foreign affairs within the institute. He also planned, organized, and hosted numerous large-scale academic projects and national academic conferences. In 1996, he was elected as a member of the Academic Committee. Simultaneously, he served as a graduate supervisor at the Chinese Academy of Arts. In 1999, he resigned from his position as Deputy Director. Since 1986, he has been a member of the Chinese Composers Association and was elected as a council member of the Chinese Traditional Music Society in 1998. In 1999, he was appointed as the "China Liaison Officer" by the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) of UNESCO. That same year, he entered the Graduate School of The Chinese University of Hong Kong for further studies and graduated with distinction in 2002, earning a Ph.D. in philosophy. Since 1987, he has participated in numerous international academic seminars held in Beijing, Hong Kong, the UK, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, and other places, actively engaging in international academic exchanges. In 1996, he received a postdoctoral research fellowship from the British Academy and was invited to serve as a visiting scholar at SOAS (University of London), where he also taught graduate and doctoral courses. In 1997, he was listed in the British edition of International Who's Who of Intellectuals.
