Why do they pursue the evil in human nature like flies to garbage? Have they truly lost the ability to self-reflect? If a person lives in a sea of strategy and scheming, can they still feel happiness? This book takes us to listen to how healthy Western people approach life, living, and the soul.
Excerpt: Correcting Wrong Beliefs
We have understood the importance of goals. The most important goal is to awaken yourself from wrong beliefs and prevent them from numbing your success mechanism. You, the reader of this book, are men and women in the mortal world—not celestial beings. If your beliefs drag you into failure, what is the meaning of your goals? What can you do for yourself? Besides falling into negativity and depression, abandoning all goals, and failing to see the sunshine of life, while others enjoy a beautiful life, you hide in the dark corners of pessimism. To live a creative life, you must awaken yourself from wrong and negative beliefs.
The word "awaken" is not strong enough. Many people hold irrefutable wrong beliefs that must be eliminated. These mostly absurd beliefs are often related to early misfortunes and ridiculous misunderstandings, forming a self-deprecating and lowly sentiment that is very stubborn. The result? They become the roots of your future tragic life. If you are a person with low self-esteem, you will never do anything worthwhile in the past or future. Your life will be empty, as if you had come into the world for nothing. Do you believe that? You should compensate for your wrongdoings with pain. Do you believe that? Because the people you love have died, life has no meaning for you. Do you believe that? In an atomic age, the only way to live is to spend every day and every hour worrying about an atomic holocaust. Do you believe that? If you think along these or other similar lines, you are storing up wrong beliefs. If so, you can say that you will encounter misfortune and tragedy. You are still hypnotizing yourself with illusory and negative thoughts. To put it more seriously, you are destroying yourself. You are essentially nailing yourself to the cross—even your enemies would not be so cruel. Mr. Metz said, "In this strange world, I have spent 65 years, hearing and witnessing many astonishing things. One of them is that some people pay no attention to political trends, medical conditions, stock movements, mechanical inventions, or other things, and are mostly unaware of the illusory and absurd nature of their own beliefs. Not only that, they can empathize with others but are cruel and unkind to themselves. Mr. Metz improved the appearances of many people, only to discover that after their surgeries, they transferred their true external defects into their hearts with an unyielding sense of low self-esteem. Although their negative beliefs are different, their mechanisms for failure are the same. Are your own beliefs truly negative and illusory? Steve has ridiculous beliefs about himself, Betty has foolish beliefs about herself, and only you have true beliefs about yourself, right? Is this what you want? Then let Mr. Metz tell another story.
Wake up yourself—Discover the potential of life, comprehensively shape yourself
