Features: Mi Fu (1051–1107), originally named Mi Fu, styled Yuanzhang, styled Xiangyang Manshi, styled Haiyue Wai Shi, etc. He was a native of Wu (now Suzhou, Jiangsu). He held the position of Assistant Director of the Ministry of Rites. Due to his eccentric behavior, he was also known as "Mi Dian." He was skilled in poetry and prose, painting, and calligraphy, and had a keen eye for appreciation. His calligraphy was influenced by the Jin and Tang dynasties, particularly benefiting from Wang Xianzhi, and was renowned for his running script. He was known as one of the "Four Masters of the Song Dynasty" alongside Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Cai Xiang. Mi Fu was adept at calligraphy, with a profound and forceful style, deeply capturing the essence of Wang Xianzhi's brushwork. He excelled in copying, achieving a level of realism that was indistinguishable from the original. He was particularly skilled in running script, with a style that was elegant and flowing. This piece is one of his representative works in running script.
