Features: Reviewing the origins of the Kennedy administration's "containment but not isolation" policy towards China reveals that both China and the United States have paid a high price for the Cold War. Learning from the past can provide valuable insights for the development of today's China-U.S. relations. The academic research series "Modern and Contemporary Chinese Politics and Society Change" is the final outcome of a "Project 985" research initiative at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, focusing on the relationship between political and social changes in modern China.
Politics is a broad and complex concept. This research project adopts a broad definition of politics, expanding its scope to include modern Chinese political thought, political institutions, international environment, foreign relations, as well as key political figures and major political events. It integrates politics and society, examining the relationship between politics and the economy, the impact of politics on education and talent cultivation, the role of politics in social stability and civilization, and political foreign relations. It also analyzes the social effects of the political attitudes and governance theories, policies, and methods of important figures. The study aims to provide multi-dimensional and multi-angle perspectives, using political sociology theories and methods to explore the interactive relationship between politics and society. It measures and evaluates the correctness of political ideas, propositions, and the governance of political figures based on the stability, progress, development, and level of civilization of society. This is a new attempt.
