Features: Lu Weizhao was one of the pioneers of higher education in China. In 1979, he enrolled the first batch of graduate students in calligraphy and seal carving. In his later years, he created the "Qian Bian Shu" style, which resembled both clerical script and seal script but was neither, bringing a fresh perspective to the art world and earning respect from fellow calligraphers. Lu Weizhao graduated from the Department of Humanities and Arts at Nanjing Higher Normal School and studied under renowned teachers such as Zhu Kezhen. In 1925, he served as an assistant to Mr. Wang Guowei at the Institute of Chinese Studies, Tsinghua University. In 1960, at the invitation of President Pan Tianshou, he was transferred to the Department of Chinese Painting at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. With an innate sensitivity to form and exceptional brushwork, Lu Weizhao could have become an outstanding painter. However, fate led him to the field of calligraphy and seal carving. Despite this, we cannot deny that he was an exceptionally authentic and brilliant painter. His remarkable achievements in calligraphy did not overshadow his extraordinary artistic style as a painter. Moreover, what is even more valuable is his flawless brushwork technique, which remains invisible yet deeply felt.
