In spring, the mischievous little monk tied a stone to a fish, a snake, and a frog. When he awoke from sleep, he found that the old monk had also tied a stone to him, and he suddenly realized his mistake. When he hurried to atone for his sins, both the fish and the snake died. The little monk burst into tears, while the old monk stood quietly beside him.
In summer, a young girl appeared in the life of the old monk and the little monk. While treating the girl, the youthful little monk fell in love with her. After the girl recovered and left, the little monk couldn’t help but miss her and left the temple, abandoning the old monk.
In autumn, the little monk killed his wife and fled back to the temple. The old monk said nothing but wrote a scripture on the temple floor, instructing the little monk to carve it and then surrender himself for punishment.
In winter, the little monk returned to the temple. By then, the old monk had already renounced worldly desires and died by self-immolation. The little monk began to practice meditation with unwavering devotion. At that moment, a masked woman arrived, left her infant, and accidentally fell into an ice hole in the lake while leaving.
In another spring, the infant grew into a little monk, while the little monk from years ago had become an old monk. The little monk repeated the same actions as the little monk from before.
