Traditional Chinese Medicine and herbal medicine are an important part of the valuable heritage of our nation. They have made significant contributions to the prosperity of the Chinese nation and the health of people worldwide. The efficacy of herbal medicine in preventing and treating diseases stems from its clear pharmacological effects and accurate clinical differentiation of syndromes, as well as the precise selection of herbs. In the 21st century, how to explore and enhance the theory and application of herbal medicine, use it reasonably, and ensure therapeutic effects is an arduous task before us. Combining pharmacological research on herbal medicine with its clinical application is undoubtedly a crucial step toward this goal. In light of this, based on clinical practice and references from relevant literature, we have compiled the book Common Herbal Medicine: Pharmacology and Clinical Applications, hoping to serve as a catalyst for the modernization of TCM.
The book is divided into two parts: General Introduction and Detailed Sections. The General Introduction elaborates on the names of herbal medicines and relevant content of pharmacology. The Detailed Sections include 276 commonly used herbs, categorized into 20 chapters such as Antipyretic and Analgesic Herbs, Heat-Clearing Herbs, etc., using the method of classifying herbs by their medicinal functions. Each herb is organized by name, with sections on pharmacological effects, clinical applications, and remarks. The book discusses the latest findings in pharmacological research, effective clinical formulas, precautions, and adverse reactions, supported by reliable evidence, concise language, practical experience, and proven efficacy.
