Features: Diabetes is a group of chronic diseases primarily caused by relative or absolute insulin deficiency, characterized by disorders in glucose metabolism and elevated blood sugar levels. Insufficient insulin supply due to various reasons, or the inability of insulin to exert normal physiological effects on target cells, leads to disturbances in the metabolism of sugar, protein, and fat in the body, resulting in diabetes. As the duration of diabetes progresses, if metabolic disorders in the body are not well controlled, they can lead to chronic complications in tissues and organs such as the eyes, kidneys, nerves, blood vessels, and heart, ultimately resulting in blindness, lower limb gangrene, uremia, stroke, myocardial infarction, or even life-threatening conditions. Diabetes is a systemic endocrine and metabolic disease. Although medical diagnostic and treatment technologies have continuously improved, human lifespan has also extended, yet the prevalence of diabetes has been on the rise. In developed countries, the prevalence rate of diabetes has reached 5-10%, while in China, it has reached 3%. Diabetes is a chronic, lifelong, and controllable disease that requires long-term comprehensive treatment. This comprehensive treatment cannot rely solely on healthcare professionals, as most measures must be implemented at home. Therefore, popularizing knowledge about the prevention and treatment of diabetes and enhancing patients' self-regulatory health management capabilities are extremely important.
