The Dictation section provides ten short passages of various themes, accompanied by audio tapes. The Listening Comprehension section has undergone the most significant changes in the 2004 revised TEM4 syllabus. Long conversations and short passages have replaced single sentences and short dialogues from previous exams. Therefore, this book carefully selects exercises specifically for long conversations and short passages. The news section includes VOA and BBC news from the past six months, all accompanied by audio tapes.
The Cloze section provides ten passages of various themes. The Grammar and Vocabulary section offers 150 multiple-choice questions, covering the requirements for grammar and vocabulary as outlined in the 2000 edition of the Teaching Syllabus for College English Majors (TEM4).
The Reading Comprehension section has removed the Fast Reading section. It provides fifty-five articles organized by themes such as society, science and technology, personalities, culture, education, and arts. Students can expand their background knowledge and develop their English intuition while practicing reading comprehension.
For writing, there are ten and fourteen essays and notes of various types, along with model answers for the notes.
