Features: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) hold a significant strategic position in China's economic and social development. Currently, SMEs still face various obstacles in their development. For example, in market competition, SMEs suffer unfair treatment compared to large state-owned enterprises, and private capital faces numerous restrictions in entering certain industries and sectors. During the rapid development of SMEs, narrow financing channels remain a common bottleneck issue. In the next phase, with reform as the main focus and guiding the economic work, the government should create all possible conditions to lay a solid foundation for the healthy development of China's SMEs. From November 6 to 7, 2004, the China (Hainan) Research Institute for Reform and Development, the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Compact Fund Office, and the German SME Promotion Network jointly held the International Forum on "Comparative Analysis of SME Policy Strategies and Promoting SME Cooperation" in Haikou. This book is a collection of key articles from the International Forum on "Comparative Analysis of SME Policy Strategies and SME Cooperation between China and Europe."
