Features: Beginners in calligraphy must start by copying ancient stele and inscriptions, striving for strokes, structures, and styles to resemble the originals. Once initial copying is mastered, the desire to create one's own works often leads to failure. The transition from copying to creation is not easy to cross, and some may spend their entire lives failing to do so or may go astray in the process. Selecting characters from the copied stele and inscriptions to compile into works is an excellent method. However, the text in the works may not all be found in the copied stele and inscriptions, even if they are found, they cannot be arranged to achieve coherence in size, weight, inclination, and mutual correspondence. For this reason, we decided to invite experienced calligraphers to edit and publish a series of couplets and poetic inscriptions composed of characters selected from famous stele and inscriptions throughout history, leveraging computer image processing technology to present the most perfect results to readers. The couplets in this volume are selected from Mi Fu's Shu Su Tie, which features heavy brushstrokes like collapsing clouds and light ones like cicada wings, with structures that appear tilted yet balanced, each embodying the essence of objects and exuding charm from all eight directions. The overall layout alternates between density and spaciousness, creating a dynamic interplay of void and form. After meticulous comparison and selection, the compiler has carefully crafted the couplets to ensure coherence and seamless execution, providing a valuable reference for calligraphy enthusiasts to study and practice.
