1. The book is categorized and selected according to the uses of couplets, divided into ten major categories, with several subcategories under each major category. The recorded couplets are uniformly punctuated within the text, with no punctuation marks at the end of the lines.
2. The arrangement of each category follows the principle of "appreciating before using." Generally, it lists famous couplets from past dynasties, with the time of composition (era or year) and the author clearly indicated, followed by general-purpose couplets. The recorded couplets are generally kept in their original form.
3. The annotations explain and clarify difficult words, allusions, specific references, background information, anecdotes, meanings, and influences in the couplets. For difficult or variant characters, Pinyin is used to indicate their pronunciation.
