Publishing Date: 2004-01-01
Features: Renowned international copyright manager Ms. Owen once again takes the pen, specifically writing for Chinese publishers on how to engage in copyright trade with foreign publishers. Based on her extensive knowledge and experience in international copyright trade, Ms. Owen addresses how Chinese publishers can collaborate and exchange in international copyright trade, how to plan topics, how to import and export copyrights, how to negotiate and sign contracts with foreign publishers, how to handle copyright registration, as well as practical issues such as sample books, payments, customs clearance, and taxation. From the perspective and stance of an international copyright holder, Ms. Owen examines the issues from the angles of both the licensor and the licensee, combining practical insights with case studies, contract texts, and legal documents. She discusses topics such as rights retention, piracy, review systems, and distribution rights, providing an invaluable bilingual practical manual for Chinese copyright managers. The purpose of publishing this book is threefold: first, to explain that copyright is the foundation of copyright licensing and must be respected; second, to offer a practical guide for Chinese publishers on how to engage in copyright trade with foreign publishers; and third, to help foreign publishers understand the characteristics of the Chinese publishing industry, the current state of copyright trade, and relevant laws and regulations, thereby guiding them in conducting copyright trade with Chinese publishers. The book is presented in a bilingual Chinese-English format, accompanied by various contract templates for Chinese-foreign copyright trade, specific provisions of the Chinese Copyright Law and its implementation rules, and relevant regulations of China's tax legal system. It is an indispensable bilingual practical manual for copyright managers. Therefore, this book is not only an essential reference for Chinese copyright managers, copyright agencies, and copyright administrators but also a valuable resource for foreign professionals working in related copyright fields. It serves as a useful guide not only for Chinese and foreign publishing editors and marketing staff but also for internationally aspiring writers and scholars, helping them protect their rights and expand their influence.
