Features: This book begins with the origins of the bureaucratic political system and extends to the end of the imperial bureaucratic system. For the pre-Song and Yuan periods, it does not provide a comprehensive overview but focuses on specific issues based on the characteristics of each era. This approach serves two purposes: first, to avoid repetition of content found in other related works, and second, due to the scarcity of historical records for these periods, it is difficult to accurately describe the overall situation with the current level of research. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, especially the Qing, there is an abundance of documentary material available. Therefore, in the Ming section, some issues are discussed more thoroughly, while in the Qing section, a more comprehensive and detailed description of the bureaucratic political system and its operational mechanisms is provided, aiming to give readers a more concrete understanding of ancient Chinese bureaucratic political institutions. Ancient Chinese bureaucratic political institutions have a long history. In fact, certain factors of the bureaucratic political system were already in the ancient aristocratic political system, but generally speaking, bureaucratic politics is more a product of the transformation from feudal aristocratic politics to imperial autocratic politics, serving as the fundamental political system that supports the operation of autocratic politics.
