Features: Since the 1950s, Chinese yangqin has flourished in various aspects, including professional teaching, performance techniques, musical composition, theoretical research, and instrument improvement. Particularly in the past decade, with the development of social music popular education and grading activities, the yangqin world has become even more vibrant and prosperous. This textbook is divided into nine levels, with levels 1-3 being beginner, levels 4-6 being intermediate, and levels 7-9 being advanced. After level 9, our institution offers a performance diploma level, which is higher than all domestic grading institutions' advanced level and roughly equips students with the performance skills needed for professional development.
The writing of this textbook follows the principle of progressing from simple to complex and from easy to difficult, integrating technicality with fun, professionalism with popularization. It begins with the basic single-note techniques of the yangqin and the easy-to-learn middle registers in C and F keys. Exercises and pieces are combined, with both technical and artistic training, enabling learners to gradually master correct and standardized yangqin playing methods and various common techniques. This allows them to gain a deeper understanding and musical expression of the stylistic characteristics of traditional yangqin art schools as well as the musical connotations of both Chinese and foreign compositions.
Technically, this textbook provides comprehensive training in seven categories of yangqin techniques: single notes, double notes, arpeggios and broken chords, two-voice composition, and colorful techniques. Artistically, it strives to widely gather and draw upon the stylistic features of music from ancient and modern times, both in China and abroad. Following the principle of combining nationality with modernity, as well as breadth with representativeness, the textbook includes both traditional masterpieces and modern works. These pieces have both social influence and high value in performance, teaching, and appreciation.
