Features: It takes us from the greedy adult world to the delicate and innocent New Moon Country of children. We are busy calculating numbers, yet it can bring us back to the time when we sat on the ground, playing with twigs and broken branches. We are busy diving for pearls at sea and digging for gold in the mountains, yet it can make our hearts relive the dream of a child who uses seashells as utensils, leaves as boats, and dewdrops on green grass as pearls. In short, as soon as we open it, we immediately feel as if we have gained two magical wings that can carry us from the torment of reality to the beautiful and innocent New Moon Country of children. — Zheng Zhenduo on "The Crescent Moon Collection"
"Who has stolen sleep from the eyes of an infant? I must know that at noon, the time for children's play has ended; the ducks in the pond are silent. The shepherd boy has fallen asleep under the shade of the banyan tree, and the white crane stands solemnly and quietly in the mud by the mango tree. At this moment, the thief of sleep enters and steals it from the infant's eyes, flying away." Can there be more beautiful words? Only in "The Crescent Moon Collection" can we read such innocent and tender sentiments. Each poem seems to possess an unfathomable magic, taking us to a world of beauty and peace; it leads us from doubt and greed, into the New Moon Country of children, allowing us to rediscover our childhood curiosity and boundless imagination, immersing us in the adventure of exploring the unknown world.
"The Crescent Moon Collection" is one of Tagore's representative works. The poet weaves his soul into the verses, filling the lines with a spiritual fragrance. Reading these poems can refine one's character, purify one's nature, and beautify the heart.
