Features: To implement the "Outline for China's Cancer Prevention and Control Plan (2004-2010)", the Disease Control Department of the Ministry of Health decided to entrust the National Cancer Registry Center and the National Cancer Prevention and Control Research Office to lead the organization and compilation of the "Guidelines for Cancer Registry Work in China," with the participation and guidance of the National Health Statistics Center. This "Guideline" is divided into seven chapters. Chapter 1 briefly introduces the significance of cancer registry reporting and the basic conditions required for carrying out this work. Chapter 2 focuses on explaining the techniques and methods of cancer case registry, including the organization of cancer registry institutions, the main methods for collecting new case data, the content and items of new case registration reports, and the internal work procedures of cancer registry offices. Chapter 3 describes the methods of cancer death case registry reporting, including the collection of death cases and the organization of data. Chapter 4 covers the collection of population data, including the sources of data, verification, and the statistics, verification, and application of population numbers by age group. Chapter 5 introduces the classification and coding of tumors, with a focus on the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) and the International Classification of Diseases for Tumors, 3rd Edition (ICD-O-3). Chapter 6 discusses the statistical analysis of cancer registry data, including the evaluation of data quality and commonly used statistical indicators. Chapter 7 introduces the software for cancer registry, recommending the use of the CanReg4 cancer registry software developed by the IACR and localized for Chinese use.
