Features: The National Unified Entrance Examination for Master's Degree Candidates is the primary pathway for selecting master's degree candidates in China. In terms of examination level and standards, among large-scale, socialized national unified examination projects (excluding doctoral admission examinations), it is currently the highest-level examination in the country. From the perspective of measurement theory, the National Unified Entrance Examination for Master's Degree Candidates should be a "norm-referenced" examination, i.e., an selective examination. The work of setting questions must adhere to the principle of benefiting both the state in selecting high-level specialized talents and universities in teaching. It emphasizes assessing students' knowledge while focusing on their ability to analyze and solve problems, and employs scientific methods to maintain the stability of the examination level. To further summarize the experience in setting questions and to enable the public and candidates to better understand the content and requirements of the examination syllabus, increase the transparency of the examination, eliminate candidates' sense of mystery about question setting, alleviate their anxiety during the examination, and facilitate their normal performance, we have organized some experts who participated in the formulation and revision of the syllabus to revise the "Reference Book for the English Examination of the 2004 National Unified Entrance Examination for Master's Degree Candidates" based on the "Syllabus for the English Examination of the 2004 National Unified Entrance Examination for Master's Degree Candidates." This year, we continue to publish the "Reference Book for the English Examination of the 2005 National Unified Entrance Examination for Master's Degree Candidates." The "Reference Book for the English Examination" provides further clarification on the content and requirements of the examination and explains the difficulties and key points of the examination through a certain number of examples, striving to reflect the characteristics of the postgraduate English examination. It is hoped that this will help candidates grasp the key points and difficulties in their studies, improve their English proficiency, and achieve good results in the examination.
