Excerpt: At the age of seventeen, have you ever felt that endless emptiness after the life seemed to leave your body? I know that when I say this, you’ll say, “Oh, here we go again with another whining kid.” But I’m no longer a child, and I’ve passed the age where I always wanted to make people think I was so worldly-wise. Now, I’m frantic over my career, tossing and turning over my mortgage, and driving myself crazy over the large diamond ring for my soon-to-be-married girlfriend.
