Features: Wang Sibin, male, born in 1949, from Hebei Province. In the spring of 1978, he was admitted to the Department of Philosophy at Peking University. In 1985, he obtained a master's degree from the Department of Sociology at Peking University. He previously served as the Director of the Department of Sociology at Peking University and is currently a professor at the Department of Sociology at Peking University. He also serves as the Vice President of the Chinese Sociological Association and the President of the Chinese Association for Social Work Education. His research fields include organizational sociology, rural sociology, social security and social policy, and social work. His main academic achievements include: "The Impact of Economic System Reform on Rural Social Relations" (Journal of Peking University), "The Experience and Development of Social Work in China" (Social Sciences in China), "Theoretical Analysis of Urban Community Construction in the Context of System Reform" (Journal of Peking University), "The Relationship Between Help and Need in Chinese Society" (Sociological Research), "The Construction of China's Social Security System," "Urban Grassroots Community Organizations in Transition," and "An Introduction to Social Work," among others. This book is a textbook on sociological introduction and also serves as an introductory book to sociology. It introduces the basic issues and theories of sociology from several perspectives, including humans and society, social structure, social processes, and social change. The main topics covered in this book include: society and its composition, socialization, social interaction, social groups, organization and management, community and urban-rural development, social stratification, social institutions, social problems, social control, social change, and social modernization. In terms of content, the book emphasizes the following aspects: it introduces classic and mature theories of sociology while also taking into account the latest achievements in contemporary Western sociological research; it gives full attention to the relatively mature achievements of sociological research in China; and it pays special attention to the prominent practical issues emerging in China's current social transformation and development. The book aims to introduce relevant sociological theories and knowledge from the perspectives of sociological theory and China's social development, while also providing a rational reflection on the practice of China's social development.
