Features: Osip Mandelstam (1891—1938), a brilliant poet of Russia's Silver Age. He wrote poetry collections such as Stones and Grief, and prose collections like The Noise of the Times, Journey to Armenia, and Fourth Prose. Many poems written during his exile in Voronezh were published years after his death. In 1933, he was arrested and exiled for composing satirical poems about Stalin the following year, and later died tragically in a transit camp in the Far East. In the lineage of Russian poetry, he is considered an alternative figure. Akhmatova held him in extremely high regard, while Brodsky believed Mandelstam was more deserving of the Nobel Prize in Literature than himself. For nearly half a century (1928–1973), Mandelstam's poetry was suppressed by the authorities. In 1974, his selected works were immediately sold out upon release in the Soviet Union. This poetry collection is translated from three English versions of Mandelstam's works, covering important works from his early period to his exile in Voronezh, many of which are translated into Chinese for the first time.
