Features: Due to having worked at the Chinese History Museum for several years, it became second nature to be familiar with a comprehensive history of China, from the primitive society to the Ming and Qing dynasties, forming a continuous grand historical framework. Recently transferred to work at the Palace Museum, I found Li Yueyi's book "Three Dynasties in Passing" not only familiar but also fresh and interesting. The three dynasties and two emperors of the Ming Dynasty spanned 30 years. In Chinese history, or even just in the history of the Ming Dynasty, what weight and role did they hold? This is a topic for scholars studying the grand history. I didn’t delve deeply into discussions with the author about the original intentions behind selecting these three dynasties, but I believe that any well-executed historical cross-section has its unique value, and the choice of is not crucial. With people, events, and objects, supported by research, evidence, and documentation, covering politics, economy, culture, and military, as well as craftsmanship, architecture, folklore, and legends, what initially appears as a disorganized and fragmented picture, when compiled into a book, distinctly outlines a historical outline. It can be seen as a light-hearted and informative read, or as a serious reflection on a specific historical period. It is both accessible to both the refined and the general audience, and small and large-scale in scope.
