Yue Fei (1103-1142), a famous Northern Song Dynasty general who resisted the Jin forces, was trained in martial arts from a young age under Zhou Ting. He swore brotherhood with Zhang Xian, Tang Huai, Wang Gui, and Niu Gao. He joined the army to serve the nation, caused a stir at the military examination, defeated Xiao Liang Wang with his spear, and was sentenced to punishment by the treacherous minister Zhang Bangchang, but was saved by the commander Zong Ze and escaped back to his hometown. Soon after, the Jin forces invaded the Song Dynasty, and Zhang Bangchang betrayed the nation, capturing Emperors Huizong and Qinzong. Emperor Gaozong of Kang declared himself emperor in the south, and Yue Fei was summoned to the capital to lead the Yue Family Army in resisting the Jin forces. After three battles in Hebei, his reputation spread far and wide. He rescued the emperor at Niutou Mountain and achieved a great victory at Zhuxian Town. Just as he was advancing north to fight the enemy and attack Huanglongfu, the court issued twelve imperial edicts ordering him to return to the capital. Soon after, for his firm opposition to the Song court's peace negotiations and surrender, he and his son were executed in Fengbo Pavilion at the Dali Temple in Hangzhou on charges of "inventive accusation," creating a tragic and mysterious story that has become legendary. Yue Fei's spirit of unwavering loyalty to his country has become an enduring example for the Chinese nation. The book features exciting chapters such as "Spear Thrusts Xiao Liang Wang," "Yue Mu's Knife Inscription," "Eight Hundred Break Ten Thousand," "Wang Zuo's Severed Arm," "Yue Lei Takes Command," and "Qisshi's Death and Niu Gao's Laughter," which are widely popular and vividly depicted.
