After leaving the mountains, Tong Lin won the trust of the martial arts righteous with his just and kind character, joining them in fighting against various evil forces. With the help of fellow martial arts masters, Tong Lin also assisted the imperial envoy Nian Gengyao in suppressing the rebellion plots of Prince Ying Chang and the Fourteenth Prince. During this time, he met and befriended Yinzhen of the Princely Rank (later Emperor Yongzheng), becoming close companions who repeatedly saved him from danger and contributed greatly to his ascension to the throne as Emperor Yongzheng.
