A heart-wrenching scream echoes from the beautiful and picturesque coastline, a terrifying event occurs on the spot. Shanhua Town is a remote coastal town, but during the summer, it becomes bustling with people who come to the beach for vacation and leisure. Now, the tourist season is approaching again, yet an ominous atmosphere begins to the town.
A young couple went swimming, but the woman never returned to shore. The next day, the police found her dismembered body on the beach. It was the work of a shark. The police chief, Martin, ordered the beach to be closed. However, Mayor Harry disagreed, as this would inevitably lead to a sharp decline in summer revenue. He demanded that the situation not be exaggerated and that a group be assembled to hunt down the shark.
Notified, the marine biologist Brown arrived in town, deeply dissatisfied with the mayor's approach. After examining the body and conducting an autopsy, he discovered that the shark involved was not ordinary but a massive, extremely rare great white shark. The fishermen quickly caught a shark, but Harry believed the task was accomplished. However, Brown knew it was not the killer shark—it was far too small.
Indeed, the open beach was attacked again, and two more people died. Harry was at his wits' end. The town's famous fisherman, Quint, voluntarily offered to hunt down the great white shark. He refused assistance and government funding, determined to go alone. But Martin and Brown finally persuaded him, and the three set out to hunt the man-eating shark at sea.
Out at sea, the bloody meat thrown into the water finally attracted it. The three men attached buoys to harpoons and stabbed them into the shark's body, preventing it from sinking to the deep. Unexpectedly, the shark's size exceeded their imagination—it ripped off the four buoys and submerged beneath the surface.
Brown decided to sit in a metal cage to catch the shark underwater, but it failed. The shark began attacking the fishing boat, breaking it apart and swallowing everything in its path, including Quint, who perished in its belly. Martin climbed onto the only part of the mast still above water and finally shot the oxygen tank in the shark's mouth, causing an explosion that split the great white shark in two.
Brown did not die in the sea, and the two survivors left the dangerous waters together.
