Features: This "Atlas of Two-Dimensional Infrared Spectra for the Identification of Traditional Chinese Medicine" includes infrared spectra, second derivative spectra, and two-dimensional correlation spectra of over 300 species of traditional Chinese medicinal materials (including: counterfeits, different origins, different habitats, and different grades), 30 species of TCM formula granules, and 10 species of TCM injectables. The medicinal materials in the book primarily focus on those listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2000 edition) for powder identification. The TCM formula granules selected are commonly used varieties without excipients. The TCM injectables selected are commercially available products. The book is organized and explained based on the fingerprint characteristics of infrared spectra (high lipid, high protein, high sucrose, high starch, high tannin, high resin, high fingerprint) and the characteristics of the major absorption peaks. Each medicinal material includes: the name (alternative names), Pinyin name, Latin name, botanical origin (including family name, plant/animal scientific name, and medicinal part), TCM spectrum (infrared spectrum, second derivative spectrum, and two-dimensional correlation spectrum), and figure annotations. Each variety occupies one page, with counterfeits and genuine materials compared and explained on the same plate. In the "Introduction," detailed explanations of the testing techniques for TCM two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy and the sources of samples are provided. Two-dimensional correlation infrared (2DIR) spectroscopy makes it possible to observe detailed spectral features that are difficult to detect in traditional one-dimensional infrared spectroscopy, enabling the use of 2D spectral peaks to distinguish complex TCM of different grades.
