Features: Most people often use weight fluctuations as the sole indicator of weight loss, failing to consider whether the lost weight is actually body fat. For example, fasting was once considered a quick weight-loss strategy, but it leaves the body in a state of nutrients only going out and no coming in. Moreover, the main loss is water and muscle, making weight rebound easily after returning to normal eating, and even causing fatigue and dizziness due to energy deficiency. If people who want to lose weight understand the relationship between seasons and weight loss, they are sure to succeed! This book selects different slimming teas and drinks according to the season, pairing them with simple exercises and acupressure methods. It introduces about 50 recipes for slimming teas and delicious foods, providing nutritional benefits for each formula in the "Slimming Tips" section, as well as suitable and unsuitable groups. Simple and practical.
Most people often use weight fluctuations as the sole indicator of weight loss, failing to consider whether the lost weight is actually body fat. Additionally, some mistakenly believe that fasting can cleanse the digestive system, which is not true. When the body lacks carbohydrates, it produces a chemical called "ketones," leading to ketone acidosis. As for the so-called "high-protein diet," it can only be a temporary weight-loss plan, and a long-term high-protein diet is very harmful to health. Because replacing carbohydrates with protein-rich foods results in insufficient energy intake; this is especially evident for people engaged in physical labor or athletes. Carbohydrates and fats protect proteins, and only when they provide sufficient energy can proteins be used for the synthesis of body tissues. Otherwise, proteins will be consumed to meet the body's energy needs. Moreover, excessive protein intake increases the burden on the liver and kidneys. Additionally, insufficient carbohydrate intake can also cause ketone acidosis, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and dry skin due to dehydration.
True weight loss should be measured by the Body Fat Health Index (BMI), especially in assessing the risk of heart disease and hypertension caused by obesity, which is more accurate than simply judging based on weight. Body fat refers to all fat in the body, and the Body Fat Health Index is the ratio of body fat to body weight, not being misled by fluctuating weight. Since burning 1 gram of fat typically removes 1 gram of water, weight loss in the initial stages may decline rapidly due to significant water loss. However, in the long run, the body will self-regulate, causing water to return, resulting in a weight plateau. During this period, even with continued efforts to lose weight, the weight remains "rock solid," while the Body Fat Health Index reflects whether the body's energy supply and demand have reached a stable state. If another downward slope in weight loss is desired, greater energy consumption is needed.
What is a reasonable weight-loss speed? According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommendation, losing 1 kilogram per week is the best speed. However, based on our clinical experience, an average loss of 1.5 kilograms per week, or 6 kilograms per month, does not have adverse effects on health and is a more satisfactory weight-loss speed. Weight loss not only helps many chronic disease indicators return to normal but also improves quality of life, making it a win-win situation!
