Features: The examples in this monograph are mainly taken from the bridge tournaments for cadres in two provinces and one city in East China. They include practical hands from internal and external bridge tournaments organized by the Shanghai Senior Cadres Bridge Association and the Shanghai Senior Cadres Bridge Association itself, as well as a combination of internal and external events. Some examples are not elaborated upon. Additionally, several hands from Bridge Victory Defense, Intermediate Bridge Course, and Bridge Guide have been referenced and quoted.
Playing bridge, every hand, even every card, is a part or component of the overall game. They are interconnected yet in opposition, forming the contradictory dynamics of the game. Every difference in bridge bidding, the declarer's play and the defense, the offense and the retreat, success and failure—all are manifestations of contradiction. It is these contradictory phenomena that drive the game forward, ultimately leading to the unification of opposing forces. Without unity, there is no struggle, and without struggle, there is no unity. Struggle is the driving force of all development, and it is also the driving force of bridge game development.
