Features: This book aims to introduce the Kazakh Akyns and their duet activities, contributing to the initiation of research on domestic Akyn literature. To provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of this unique creative group and their distinctive creative methods and processes, several representative duet poems have been specially translated as the lower part, with the first four being classical duet poems. The Akyns introduced in this book, apart from Bukaar and Abyai, are all skilled duet performers. Bukaar is a "Gyro-style" Akyn and a "model Akyn who early promoted the development of folk poetry." Understanding Bukaar helps in comprehending the history and development of Akyns. Although Abyai did not participate in formal duets, he was an active supporter of duet activities and was hailed as the "Poet Saint" of the Kazakh nation. Abyai "laid the foundation for the creation of Kazakh poetic theory" and "created new poetic forms." His creative work played an irreplaceable role in standardizing and perfecting the duet activities of Akyns. Therefore, although Abyai did not belong to the folk Akyns who participated in duets, he provides a comprehensive understanding of the Akyn group, as well as the distinction between folk Akyns and those engaged in written creation, known as "writing Akyns."
